Opened in 1890 by the Preston & Wyre Joint Railway on its lines from Preston to Blackpool and Fleetwood, to replace an earlier station slightly further west. View west towards Blackpool shortly after the line was electrified, and a new platform and footbridge added. The track on the right and the platform from which the image was taken are on the site of the former 'fast' lines, for which no previous platform at Kirkham & Wesham was provided. See Image for a pre-electrification view taken closer to the road bridge.
