Opened in 1896 by the Preston & Wyre Joint Railway when the line through the town was moved to a new alignment. The line used to split just beyond the station. View west towards Blackpool (North) and Fleetwood, shortly after the line was electrified, the platforms shortened, the vegetation cut back, and the line towards Fleetwood disconnected.
