This is the weekend of Bourne Free, the Bournemouth Pride festival celebrating LGBT (lesbian/gay/bi/transsexual) culture, one of many such events which take place across the country. Siemens, the locally based company which produces street furniture such as traffic lights, has altered the green man at three road junctions in the town for this Friday and the weekend. Each crossing has one each of four gender symbols. This one, two interlocking female symbols, represents lesbians while the heterosexual, gay and transsexual symbols can be seen below.
