The estate was built in the 1930s, so the coronation referred to is presumably that of George VI in 1937. It is unusual to see an "end of roadworks" sign on a permanently fixed post, and there were no temporary roadworks nearby at the time of the photo, so the sign may be intended to signify "end of speed humps".
