The building seen in the foreground housed the offices and was designed in 1913 by E Boardman architects for the Norwich Electric Light Company > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5824700. In 1892 they had already converted the adjacent old Duke’s Palace Ironworks > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5824715 to a site where coal-fired boilers generated electricity that, by 1913, lit over 1750 street lamps around the city.
