The primary school is on the corner of Church Street and Church Place. The red nameboard shows that the school's name in Welsh is Ysgol Santes Gwladys Bargod. Saint Gwladys ferch Brychan or St Gladys (Claudia in Latin) was the daughter of King Brychan of Brycheiniog and the queen of the saint-king Gwynllyw Milwr.
