The most strikingly art nouveau building in Norwich is without doubt the Royal Arcade, built on the site of the old Royal Hotel. The Royal Arcade > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5822934 was opened on May 24 1899 as the city's new, prestigious, purpose-built shopping arcade. It was designed by the Norwich architect George Skipper, who was responsible for the designs of the city’s most notable commercial buildings as well as hotels, country residences and public buildings throughout East Anglia, Somerset and London. His work is generally held by authorities on Victorian and Edwardian architecture to have been of national importance.
