Knottingley Station

On a damp July day a merry-go-round train of coal for one of the power stations in the area runs into Knottingley station. A flashing yellow light is mounted on the cab roof of the loco indicating that it is fitted with slow speed control to assist the driver in maintaining the correct speed when automated loading and discharging of coal is carried out. The station platforms, now wood, were probably originally built of stone.
