Morgan House, which formed part of Morgans Brewery Ltd, is the red-brick building in mid distance. The building seen in the foreground is Morgan House. The building formed part of Morgans Brewery, overlooking the adjoining 'Old Brewery', now all gone. Formerly known as the Connisford Brewery, the Old Brewery was established on King Street as early as 1563. When in 1844 the Morgan family took over the business, the purchase included 54 public houses. In June 1942, when the brewery suffered severe bomb damage, brewing had to temporarily be transferred to the Lady Bridge Brewery in King’s Lynn, also owned by Morgans, until a new modern brewery could be built on the old site. Brewing recommenced in 1950 in Norwich but Morgans were unable to maintain their profitability and in September 1961 they went into voluntary liquidation.
