The Holburne Museum

Built in 1796, additions in 1836 and much altered in 1912 when converted into a museum, this beautiful building was built as the Sydney Hotel and was the centrepiece of the Great Pulteney Street development. It became an integral part of the pleasure grounds at Sydney Gardens. Later it became a therapeutic centre for patients and afterwards it was part of the Bath Proprietary College. Purchased by Bath City Council and then sold in 1912 to the Holburne Trustees.
