It is hard to believe that the peace and tranquility of this chapel exists only 200 metres from the hectic traffic and shoppers of Marble Arch. The nuns hardly ever experience this outside world: they only leave the confines of the convent for necessities such as medical treatment. Their life is one of constant prayer and contemplation. Here, one of the sisters takes her turn before the altar where the Blessed Sacrament (Eucarist) is exposed for devotion (spotlit below the crucifix). Such contemplation continues, by rota, every hour of the day and night. The chapel is open to visitors of any faith, or none, who may want some quiet time alone or to attend morning Mass (07.30 or 10.00 at weekends).
