A little forest of party posters which sprang up along the boundary of a car-wash site - at the point where the 'South Circ' leaves Clifford Avenue to turn left along Upper Richmond Road West. This is the London Borough of Richmond-upon-Thames, where - by tradition - a lot of enthusiasm goes into election campaigns. In the neighbouring borough of Wandsworth people are more coy about political allegiances and campaigns are subdued. The run-up to these local elections proved no exception.
