Viewed here from the 'High Level' station, the Great Western Railway Low Level station was opened in 1855, constructed in striking blue bricks. It was closed to passengers in 1970 and parcel services ceased in 1972. After that the site remained derelict for over 30 years. It is now being redeveloped as the 'Bluebrick' development with an hotel and shops and restaurants.
