With Sheffield Arena in the distance (looking NE) and the railway then the canal behind me, all running alongside each other, it's something of a convergence of transport methods. The tram is only four stops away from the Meadowhall shopping centre adjacent to M1 J34. Sheffield Arena (visible in the distance) can take an audience of up to 14,000 for a concert, or around 8,500 for an ice hockey match. Over to the left is the new Ice Sheffield venue with two full-sized ice pads for recreational and sport use and just over the road from that is the English Institute of Sport. Difficult to believe this area was once home to heavy industry and the workers employed therein.
