The Horse Statue in Hawick

Image: © Jennifer Petrie Taken: 17 Apr 2018

This statue was unveiled in 1914 to mark the 400th anniversary of the young men of Hawick thwarting an English raid on the town. Many adult males had been killed in the Battle of Flodden in 1513 leaving only boys to defend their town. This statue shows a young lad returning to the town with a captured banner.
