This castellated gatehouse and lodges date from the early 19th century and were the entrance to Lea Castle, described in Pevsner as 'a large irregular pile built for John Knight c.1812-16, almost certainly by 'architectural antiquary' John Carter'. The house was demolished in 1945. These lodge and gatehouse are Grade II listed, see:https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1296589
