Built in 1903 as Kirkmaiden United Free Church, the building shows clear "Arts and Crafts" influence. On the union of the United Free Church and the Church of Scotland in 1929, it was renamed Kirkmaiden St Medan's. It united with Kirkmaiden Parish Church in 1931, with this building then used as the principal place of worship.
