Dating from 1861 and extended in 1881, these premises are known to have been occupied by Hope & Bendals, wine & spirit merchants, in 1902. The premises were acquired by the State Management Scheme on 4 September 1916 and converted to an off-licence on 25 September 1916.The Exchange Buildings were sold with the Gretna Tavern (see: Image] ) to Eden Construction in 1973 for £82,215.
