Argyll Square Church

Image: © Gerald England Taken: 23 Mar 2017

Built in 1888 by John Fraser Sim for the Free Church of Scotland. In 1900 it was united with the Church of Scotland and became known as the United Free Church. In 1949 to merged with St Columba's United Presbyterian Church and became known as St Columba's. The church originally had a much taller steeple of 128 feet high but it was found to be unsafe and removed in 1976. It closed in 1984. For a short time it was used as a nightclub and then for several years was the Tourist Information Office. It is now looking for a new buyer.
