Naming the main highway (in this case, now pedestrianized) through a town "Thoroughfare" is something of a Suffolk trait. The café on the right is housed in a building that was the childhood home of the Labour politician George Lansbury, and a green plaque marking this can just be seen behind the "Focus" sign.
