A surviving (and scheduled) part of the old Town Wall is prominent here. Note the blocked rectangular openings. Oddly, another scheduled part of the old defences is in an underground area of the Thistle Shopping Centre; see http://portal.historicenvironment.scot/designation/SM1754 for details of that part and the parts shown here. Note how the appearance of the wall varies over its height; in its present form it is a composite work, exhibiting the various repairs and modifications made to the original wall. The sign partway up the wall, left of centre, says "Back Walk". For the bus stop not far ahead on the right, see Image Walking just 15 metres past that bus stop and looking to the left gives the following view: Image For a view back from just beyond the bus stop, see Image
