A diesel-electric unit has terminated here: beyond this point, disused track bed stretches towards Lewes and Brighton. The station here has since disappeared, see Image, to save motorists a few seconds' wait at a level crossing, to be replaced by a bus shelter on the eastern side of the road. There has been much talk of re-opening the line from Uckfield to Lewes, which would be an eminently sensible move, (it would provide a second route from London to Brighton, as well as being very useful for local people), but of course, this being Britain, nothing gets done.
