Located at the junction of Rake Lane and Priory Road, Sir John was born here in 1764. He rose to become Second Secretary to the Admiralty, giving him the responsibility for running the British Navy. He spearheaded the exploration for the North West Passage and was a founder member of the Royal Geographical Society.
