I was really lucky here. Just as I was cursing the owners of the two cars parked on the gravel, both sets of owners returned to their cars and drove off, leaving me a car-free view of the house. The south elevation was transformed in 1894-1895 by R Rowand Anderson, who venetianised the ground floor windows and rebuilt the centre with an exaggerated bow with Roman Doric pillars.
