The plaque in George Lane United Reformed Church reads: IN GRATEFUL MEMORY OF WILLIAM BROWN, A GENEROUS FRIEND AND BENEFACTOR WHO FOR OVER 60 YEARS GAVE FAITHFULL AND LOVING SERVICE AS TEACHER, DEACON AND CHURCH TREASURER. DIED, JANUARY 11TH 1929. AGED, 80 YEARS.
