These four fine specimens are growing right by the path on the Whitegate Way just north of Marton Hall. Is it just coincidence that the fishpond channel of the 13th century Marton Grange lies beneath the railway embankment just at this point? https://www.historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1009863
