On the side wall (facing Pike's Walk) of the former Jakenett's Almshouses at 94 King Street, now a private residence, the faded writing can with difficulty be made out: Centaur Cycles Famous since 1876 Are the best the World Produces, Prices being within the Reach of all. Centaur Cycles were manufactured between 1876 and 1915, production switching from Coventry to Stoke on Trent in the final few years. For the context see Nigel Chadwick's Image
