The Squirrel dates back to the 19th century, and was Grade II listed https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/101053228-squirrel-inn-alveley in 1974. It appears to have been a watering hole for travellers for its whole existence, and is clearly marked on the 1902 map.
