St Lawrence's Church

This church was founded shortly after the castle but was badly damaged by the Scots in 1388(apparently as a result of a drubbing by the English in a team event at a local joust). It was the benevolent Lady Anne Clifford who footed the bill for its repair in the mid 17th century.
