'JOHN BUNYAN was baptised in the River Great Ouse circa 1650'. Note no claim is made that this was the exact spot. It is surprising no more precise baptism date survives, but it must refer to his non-conformist baptism. His Anglican infant baptism was in 1628 in Elstow.
