Metal plate attached to stone post by the UC road, in parish of MOTCOMBE (NORTH DORSET District), northern end of village, just East of 90 degree bend, by entrance to some farm buildings, by the road, on South side of road. Dorset 3 and 4 (iron plated), erected by the Wincanton turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- SHAFTESBURY 3 MERE 4½ Milestone Society National ID: DO_SFME03.
