Metal plate attached to stone post by the A596, in parish of WOODSIDE (ALLERDALE District), road to Wigton, rear of grass, on North side of road. Carlisle red stone and curved plate, erected by the Cockermouth & Carlisle turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- CARLISLE 10 MILES WIGTON 1 MILE COCKERMOUTH 16½ MILES Grade II Listed.
