Carved stone post by the A343, in parish of Newbury (West Berkshire District), Sandpit Hill; North of Newbury Wash, beside Pine Lodge, below hedge on well kept grass, on West side of road. Newbury waist, erected by the Andover & Chilton Pond turnpike trust in the 19th century. Inscription reads:- : NEWBURY / 2 : : SARUM / 32 : : OXFORD / 28 : : ANDOVER / 14 : Carved benchmark on bottom face. West Berkshire HER.
