The church stands a short distance east of the A217 Brighton road - though hidden from the road by trees. In the Surrey volume of 'The Buildings of England' Ian Nairn describes the design as 'an almost literal copy' of the church at Shottesbrooke in Berkshire. The architect was Benjamin Ferrey, and the date of building 1848-52. Judging by photos on Geograph, the spire at Shottesbrooke is more slender:Image
