Wymondham Market Cross

The Market Cross was built in 1618 to replace a former cross destroyed in the Great Fire of 1615. It was restored in 1863 and again in 1989. The Market Cross is an octagonal building supported by eight timber buttress-like posts and a middle post. Formerly the Market Clerk's office, the Market Cross later became the Council chamber and reading room.
