Wanstead's iconic Victorian Police Station in Spratt Hall Road, E11, complete with the traditional blue lamp, has been declared as unfit for purpose for modern policing by the Metropolitan Police's Borough Commander, and the force are planning a move to more modern premises. However some local councillors are opposing the closure and are asking the police to consider adapting the building to their needs before moving away.
