The chancel dates from the early 19th century, and the boards either side of the altar with the text of the Lord's Prayer and Ten Commandments are typical of that period. The monument on the north wall is to John Hutton of Marske (died 1841), of the family who long held the patronage of the benefice. He was High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1825.
