The controversial Hallam Tower Hotel, opened in 1965. Despite its early success, it closed in 2004, and has been deteriorating since then whilst plans of all types were proposed and never concluded. Finally, in September 2017, demolition has begun, but, sadly and despite security and safety warnings, not before a 19 year old student, exploring the ruined hotel, fell to his death. I'm sure the residents of Chesterwood Drive will not miss this monstrous building ... but will be wary of what will finally replace it.
