One of several primary schools in the town “The Public” suffered a few years ago when the local authority in an exercise of political correctness ruled that the word “Public” be stricken from the name of all schools in their area with no substitution added. Several schools in towns in the district suffered chaos as Post Offices and other delivery contractors struggled to find which school was meant on the labels. The ruling was soon rescinded. The cost in late deliveries and printing of stationery etc was not made - er - public.
