From 1914 to 2008 this fine building served as the main Post Office, after which it has been in use as a restaurant. It has been recently refurbished. It's history starts around 1700, when it was home to William Chetwynd, Mayor and MP in the mid 18th century. Later owned by William Horton (d.1832) who founded the first footwear factory in Stafford. He was a fried of the playwright Sheridan who is said to have written 'School for Scandal' at the house.
