And it works! Water flows at the push of the lever - takes me back to my youth when there were a lot of these around, often under Victorian canopies. This one bears the inscription "Erected with the surplus funds of an industrial exhibition held in Dollar August 1890". Of course, there is also a later addition - "Not drinking water".
