A telephone pole beside Bramerton Road was hit by a vehicle with such force that it snapped, taking the wires attached to it down with it > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5464476. How long does it take for a damaged telephone pole to be replaced and the telephone wires to be reconnected? In this case it took five days. It took three days before a technician appeared to assess the damage, despite it having been reported shortly after the accident had happened. Two trucks, one containing the technicians' mobile workshop > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5464484 and the other a new pole and the machinery required for the job of setting it up > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5464518 finally arrived 5 days after the accident. In the meantime, affected householders were advised to contact BT's helpline for updates - somewhat difficult to do without a phone and no internet connection! After being taken off the truck > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5464489 the pole is now sitting in its foothold, with the grabber > http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/5464520 getting ready to straighten it and then hold it firmly in place until the hole has been filled in and the soil compacted.
