Built "by subscription" in 1832 to guard against body-snatchers seeking fresh corpses for dissection at Aberdeen medical school, although the 1832 Anatomy Act (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anatomy_Act_1832 ) soon made it redundant. Later used as a school.
