The passageway to Tanners Yard is to the left of the porch with the red door. According to the Hexham Local History Society's leaflet "Industrial Area and Tyne Green", the Yard "was managed for a long time by the Bell family. (The) house (was) built c1720 with a fine porch [and was where] Henry Bell (1856-1920) first lived before moving up the hill to a grander house." Now the offices of G Proudlock & Co. Chartered Accountants.
