Whitmore Hall is a beautiful manor house (1676) still lived in by the family, owners of this estate for over 900 years. Family portraits going back to 1626. Unique stables. In the same family for over 900 years, descendants of the Normans, the house is a fine example of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It is built of warm brick, with pediment and a later, 19th century porch. One of the outstanding features of Whitmore is the extremely rare example of a late Elizabethan stable block, the ground floor is part cobbled and has nine oak-carved stalls. Features: A lime avenue leads from the church to the house, and surrounding parkland and lake suggest 'Capability' Brown's hand; early Victorian summer house. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitmore_Hall
