A rather fine building, erected at a cost of £1500 in 1892, the money being raised by a combination of public subscription and a patronage grant from an art school in London. Now an art gallery, this was the first art school in Wales, and comprises two large studios (one on each floor) and a modelling room on the ground. There is extensive tiling to the interior floors. Granted a Grade II listing https://www.britishlistedbuildings.co.uk/300009734-oriel-myrddin-the-old-art-school-carmarthen#.WUDijusrKM9 in 1984, as a "well-designed and well-preserved, purpose built art school"
