One of the prettiest scenes in the area around Thelwall and Lymm, the old Thelwall Post Office stands on the sharp corner of Bell Lane opposite the Pickering Arms. The post office and the village shop were at the heart of Thelwall life in the mid 1950s. The public telephone box outside the post office reflects an era before mobile phones became commonplace, whilst the right-hand shop window of P L Greenway, 'grocer and provision dealer', is typical of the small general store which proceeded the supermarket age.
