This is the southern end of the road at the crossroads formed by Port Hall Avenue (left), Dyke Road Drive (right) and Stanford Road (Behind the photographer). The road heads up to the hill to its northern junction with Dyke Road. Developed in the 1880s as an upper middle class area due to the views across the suburbs towards the downs.
