Looking towards Newcastle and Edinburgh from the north end of the Down through platform. Through the fence on the right is the access road to the station, which rises from Parkgate between the Up and Down lines and provides almost direct access to the station platforms. On the left, houses on Pensbury Street back onto the railway line.
