Old OS maps show a pub beside the Post Office in Swan Street, Longtown. Further research, including a conversation with town historian Gordon L Routledge, confirms this is the former "White Swan Inn" which came under State ownership on 1 October 1916. It is unclear when it closed, but the building is not shown as a pub on the 1972 OS map. Now shops and a private dwelling.
